More energy is
more fun.
But more Ketone Shot is not necessarily better. This is the one-page version of how to use it — start at the bottom of the ladder and work up.
Start with one “serving”
Find your dose
| WHO | Ketone Shot | VKE |
|---|---|---|
| Sensitive or smaller femaleStart here | ½ bottle | 30mL · 2.5g |
| Most women | ½–1 bottle | 30–60mL · 2.5–5g |
| Most men | 1 bottle | 60mL · 5g |
| Big guys, or a hard effort | 1½ bottles + | 90–300mL · 7.5–25g max |
Take your first ½–1 bottle on an ordinary day, not your biggest one — you want to learn what it feels like (if anything) against a normal baseline. Then move one step at a time. One bottle already contains 2 “servings”; going bigger can be wasteful and sometimes worse.
When to use it
Instead of morning coffee
First thing, empty stomach. It’s how people switch to decaf without the withdrawal.
A deep focus block
About 15 minutes before you need to be sharp. Should carry you 2–4 hours.
Skipping a meal or killing the 3pm crash
Empty stomach. It takes the edge off hunger as well as the energy dip.
Before training
15 minutes before warm-up, ideally 2–3 hours after your last food. Keto-adapted athletes can go higher.
Long endurance, alongside carbs
Dual fuel: 60–100g of carbs an hour with 5–10g VKE per hour (1–2 Ketone Shots). Also attempt to increase your carb max by 15%.
Recovery
Right after you finish, and again later.
Deep sleep
Immediately before bed. If you’re already in ketosis or you took a larger amount during the day you probably don’t need it for sleep.
Jet lag
Before the flight, then every 2–3 hours during, then post flight. Don’t wake up just to take it. Best if you can drink water and salt and skip eating the whole flight. Low cal intake is fine.
Daily or only when you need it — both work. Every one of these is better on an empty stomach.
What it should feel like
The worse your energy and focus were to start, the more you’ll notice. The more optimized you are the less you may feel it, if at all. Remember it’s in your bag the next time performance slips.
The rules
Do
- Take it on an empty stomach — that’s where you get the most effect and the best value per gram.
- Drink it cold. Peachy is the easiest-to-drink version we make, and it’s ready to drink — no measuring or mixing.
- Can’t hurt to add electrolytes, especially on training days to help with cramping.
- On a daily protocol, add 50–99mg of potassium citrate a day.
Warnings
- Don’t mix it with MCT oil.
- Before stacking with caffeine, beware ketones may 2–3x your caffeine delivery, but not necessarily in a good way. Caffeine is the opposite of the calm flow state you should get with VKE.
- More isn’t always better, and could be worse. Headache, hunger, sleepiness, or low blood sugar could mean you overshot — back off, take half next time.
- Don’t assume more is faster. Large doses may block glucose utilization and impair top speed in races.
Same ester, different bottle
All three are the same gold-standard Veech Ketone Ester. Only the concentration changes — so a “serving” is still 2.5g VKE, whichever bottle you’re holding.
| PRODUCT | ONE “SERVING” (2.5g) | IN PRACTICE | “SERVINGS” / BOTTLE |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ke4 — 50% concentrate | 5mL | 1 capful | 12 (30g / 60mL) |
| Ke2 — 25% concentrate | 10mL | 2 capfuls | 10 (25g / 100mL) |
| Ketone Shot — 8%, ready to drink | 30mL | ½ bottle | 2 (5g / 60mL) |
