Your body naturally makes ketones for energy. Today, you can drink them. But there’s something most ketone marketing leaves out: not every ketone drink contains the same molecule — and they don’t all have the same research.
Drink it and D-BHB is in your blood within minutes. Your cells use Veech Ketone Ester to help make ATP — the energy they actually run on — so your brain and your muscles have something to draw on besides sugar.

Studies show VKE can enhance physical performance.
Studies show enhanced sleep and better next-day training capacity.
Other ketone molecules can also raise a blood ketone reading. That does not give them VKE’s results — so they cite VKE’s studies as if every ketone did the same thing.
A blood BHB reading is a biomarker. Focus, performance and recovery are outcomes. Outcomes have to be measured directly.

Not R 1,3 Butanediol. Not BHB salts.

*Rise in blood BHB at matched ~10 g doses, from an independent, government-funded, double-blind crossover trial. In a separate mole-matched trial, ketone salts peaked at roughly a third of the ester’s blood ketone level, and about half of what they deliver is the L-BHB form the body handles differently.

suited to delivering a BUZZ
as an alcohol alternative.
R 1,3 Butanediol is a diol alcohol precursor that the liver converts to D-BHB. It is inebriating — which is exactly why we use it as the buzz ingredient in our sister brand, Hard Ketones. It is not Veech Ketone Ester, and we do not use it for focus or performance.
It raises D-BHB, and that is often marketed using VKE’s science. But VKE is the molecule with the direct human research record across focus, performance and recovery — and R 1,3 Butanediol does not inherit those findings simply by raising the same biomarker.
The biomarker moved. That is not the same as the result.
Two drinks can put the same number on a blood meter and have nothing else in common.

Strong, bitter and most compact. Not “better”, just less water.
Three times the water of Ke4 at the same price per gram. We named the flavour “Not Bad” and meant it.
Ready to drink, nothing to measure. The easiest way to find out what this actually feels like.
Everything above in more detail: what ketones are, the four kinds of ketone drinks, the molecule itself and what researchers have actually measured.
Your body can run on glucose. It can also make ketones — a second fuel it produces from fat. Ketone production rises under conditions such as fasting, prolonged exercise and carbohydrate restriction.
Both are normal. Your body switches between them depending on what it has available.
The primary ketone measured in blood. When a ketone drink says it “raises ketones,” this is usually the number being measured.
Another circulating ketone body. Made alongside BHB and used for energy in a similar way.
Produced from acetoacetate and largely exhaled. It’s the “keto breath” some people notice.
“Exogenous” just means from outside the body. Ketone drinks deliver ketones in several very different ways. Four categories cover most of what’s on the shelf.
A ketone ester with a large body of human research. One BHB unit bonded to one carrier unit; both are released and used as ketones.
Used by KetoneAidA diol — not a ketone itself. The body metabolizes it in the liver to produce D-BHB.
A precursorBHB bound to minerals such as sodium, calcium or magnesium. Many formulations contain both D-BHB and L-BHB.
Mineral-boundD-BHB supplied directly in its acid form, with no carrier and no mineral.
DirectDifferent structure. Different metabolism. Different research. Different human outcomes.
Compare exogenous ketonesKetoneAid uses the Veech Ketone Ester (VKE). Its exact chemical name:
Developed through decades of scientific work led by Dr. Richard Veech and Todd King at NIH, VKE became a prominent ketone molecule in human research. Researchers have studied it across exercise, training, cognition, recovery, metabolism and ketone delivery.
VKE is two natural D-ketone units joined by a single ester bond. Digestion splits the bond; both halves end up as D-BHB. This is what makes VKE a ketone ester rather than a salt, a precursor or a free acid.
